Summary
When we talk about plastic waste in the river, hydrologic condition must be included. Here I learnt a bit under the river analysis system to understand the flow.

The idea was, when I tried to contemplate plastic leakage from land-based sources to the river mouth (a.k.a the coastline areas) in Indonesia.

  • How a littered material can be shifted from the disposal point to the ocean?
  • Is there any relation between what we are doing on land to the water?
  • Is river taking a role in plastic to the ocean?

Since I am looking in the bigger picture (re: country-to-city level of study), I try to implement the model in spatial context.

Morphometric Analysis

A method in the sub-basin scale to analyze the catchment area of the river. Morphometric analysis is the method for classifying the streamflow based on the mat analysis of landform.

FLO1K

A product by Barbarossa, et al. which introduces the 1 km resolution of the possible water retardment in a decade. The idea is to influence the water retardment in the satellite remote sensing approach.

River Analysis System

A method utilizes in HEC-RAS software to simulate the flow in depth and speed, and model the possible retardment causes by the hindrances of the water construction.
